The poet LEE Seong-Bok was born in 1952 in Sangju in Gyeongsangbuk-do State. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degree at Seoul University French Language and Literature Department. He took his first step in the world of literature with his first poem to be published in a seasonal literature magazine in the winter of 1977. He has various poetry books and prose compilations and in his first poetry book When Will the Rolling Stone Awaken he extends personal suffering to a universal dimension and struggles against the ill state that is essentially bothering us. In South Sea Geumsan carrying the scent of east, he reintroduces the deeper, warm and painful world of elegant poetry where he moves apart from the tendency towards modernism and dive into the metaphysical realm of the East. Later, he tries to narrate the traces of his own history through Raeyeoaebandhara. Resembling the impossibility of a life of despair and sorrow, the poet’s voice is calm, sweet while filled with underlying problems.
