Margriet Ruurs is the author of many award-winning books for children. She writes children's and educational materials. She has a Master's Degree in Education from Simon Fraser University and has studied the use of technology in teaching reading and writing to children. “I love to use my imagination and to dream up stories” says this creator of many books for children.
Margriet also loves to work in schools - to tell children about being a writer and to share her love of playing with language. She loves writing poetry because it is such a powerful way to express yourself. She also enjoys writing nonfiction because researching a topic in which you are interested can be so much fun! Margriet’s books also include historical fiction, fictional picture books and books on writing for educators.
She was inspired to write Stepping Stones after she stumbled across the amazing stone artwork of Nizar Ali Badr on the Internet and saw the opportunity to both raise funds to help Syrian refugees and bring the work of Mr. Badr to a wider audience.
