THE 35th INTERNATIONAL ISTANBUL BOOK FAIR and 26th INTERNATIONAL ISTANBUL ART FAIR OPENED
The 35th International Istanbul Book Fair organized by TÜYAP Fairs in partnership with the Turkish Publishers Association, and ARTIST 2016 / the 26th International Istanbul Art Fair organized by TÜYAP Fairs opened on Saturday, November 12 with the attendance of Professor Maria Böhmer, Minister of State of the Federal Republic of Germany and Professor Hüseyin Yayman, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.The Guest of Honor of the 35th International Istanbul Book Fair is Germany, while the theme of the fair is "Philosophy and Humanity" and the Writer of Honor is philosopher and academic Professor Ioanna Kuçuradi. Featured in the Fair are 800 publishers and nongovernmental organizations and over 300 events including interviews, panel discussions, poetry recitals and children's activities, as well as more than 2000 autograph sessions.
The Istanbul Art Fair will host art galleries, independent groups, art initiatives and young artists under a wide-ranging series of exhibitions, panels and performances titled Unexpected Territories. The Artist of Honor of ARTIST 2016 is Gülsün Karamustafa and the Benefactor of Art Award will be presented to Summart Center for Arts.
Visiting hours of the Istanbul Book Fair are 10 am to 7 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 8 pm at the weekend. The Istanbul Art Fair opens to visitors at 11 am every day. Both fairs will close at 7 pm on Sunday, November 20.
