THE 36th INTERNATIONAL İSTANBUL BOOK FAIR and 27th İSTANBUL ART FAIR OPENED
The 36th International İstanbul Book Fair organized by TÜYAP Fairs in partnership with the Turkish Publishers Association, and ARTİST 2017 / the 27th istanbul Art Fair organized by TÜYAP Fairs opened on Saturday, November 4 with the attendance of Yoon CHUL-HO, President of the Korean Publishers Association, and Professor Numan KURTULMUŞ, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.The Guest of Honor of the 36th International İstanbul Book Fair is Korea, while the theme of the fair is "Glad to Have You, Literature" and the Writer of Honor is Ayla Kutlu. Featured in the Fair are 820 publishers and nongovernmental organizations and 295 events including interviews, panel discussions, poetry recitals and children's activities, as well as more than 3000 autograph sessions.
The Istanbul Art Fair will host art galleries, independent groups, art initiatives and young artists under the theme of UTOPIA. Winners of the Honor Awards of the Istanbul Art Fair are were chosen to commemorate outstanding contributions to various branches of plastic arts. This year’s Artist Honorary Award was given to Nur Koçak for her significant contribution to plastic arts in Turkey, while the Art Critic Honorary Award was given to Ali Artun, Art Friendly Institution Award to FARPLAS, and the Art Collector Honorary Award to Yunus Büyükkuşoğlu.
Visiting hours of the Istanbul Book Fair are 10 am to 7 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 8 pm at the weekend. The Istanbul Art Fair opens to visitors at 11 am every day. Both fairs will close at 7 pm on Sunday, November 12.
