Setzer has been the CEO of Manual Moderno, a Mexico City- and Bogota-based leading publisher of medical and psychology books in Spanish, since 1990. He is a graduate of the Industrial Engineering department of the National University of Mexico, and has an MBA from IPADE Business School.
Setzer is currently the President of the International Publishers Association, where he served as Chief Executive Officer from 2004 to 2010 and 2013 to 2018. He took part in IPA congresses between 2004 and 2010 as speaker or president of the assembly. From 1995 onwards, he was an active member of the Mexican Publishers Association, where he was Vice President from 2004 to 2006 and 2010 to 2013.
Setzer served as the founding president of the Mexican collective management organization CeMPro from 1998 to 2002. He also led the Latin America and Caribbean Committee of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organizations (IFRRO).
